IMPACT
What a wonderful opportunity for the Fayetteville area! The Campaign for Natural Growth will enable us to build the Visitors Pavilion Complex at Cape Fear Botanical Garden. It’s the culmination of the Garden’s Master Plan—and the ideal answer to a number of pressing needs. Most critical of all is the fact that with the current resources available at the Garden our programs are operating at capacity. In particular, we are limited by the lack of indoor facilities. We must grow to expand our ability to serve visitors, students and our community.
The new Visitors Pavilion Complex will mark a milestone, as it elevates our capabilities well beyond their current scope.
Attendance to Cape Fear Botanical Garden is expected to increase to more than 68,000 once the Pavilion is complete.
The Visitors Pavilion Complex is also projected to double the number of school children served: current 2600, impact at minimum 5200 students.
It is estimated to double the number adult education participants: current 1300, impact at minimum 2600.
Consider all that it will accomplish for the Botanical Garden and the Fayetteville/Cumberland County region:
- Beautify the gateway to Fayetteville and become a “beacon” for greater civic pride
- Expand our capacity to provide programs for educators and students of all ages and ability levels
- Offer a distinctive mid-size meeting facility in our area to host local groups, as well as to attract more conventions, symposia and meetings to our hometown.
- Attract more tourists who will come and spend the night in our local hotels
- Expand our capacity to serve businesses/organizations – with facilities to hold certification programs, staff retreats, client meetings and more
- Enhance the Garden’s appeal and facilitate visitor admission, with the creation of a refined entrance area
- Allow us to establish permanent displays and host traveling nature exhibits, such as “Glass in the Garden” by artist Dale Chihuly, and nationally renowned children’s exhibits
- Enhance access for the physically challenged
- Serve as an example of environmentally friendly construction
- Provide office space for our staff, so we can “return” our 19th century farmhouse to its exclusive function as an historic attraction
- Become a centerpiece for the River Trail/Linear Park systems
